Actor marimuthu official statement over controversial social media post - Tamil Movie Cinema News

One of the famous supporting actors and directors of Tamil cinema is G. Marimuthu. The actor made his debut with the film Vaali and continued to play important roles in various films. He became famous for playing character roles in the films like Pariyerum Perumal, Mehandi Circus, Puppy, Sulthan, Doctor, Anbarivu, Vikram, etc. He has also directed Kannum Kannum and Pulivaal movies. The actor made his television debut by taking up the role of Aadhimuthi Gunasegaram in the Tamil serial Ethir Neechal. His role in the serial attracted the attention of the audience and he had a good reputation throughout his career.

Recently, that actor got involved and speculated in a controversy on Twitter. A Twitter account that posts Adult content had posted a semi-naked picture with the caption ”Can I call you?”, to which a reply was seen from the account of the actor Marimuthu with his phone number. Some had also checked if the number truly belongs to the actor using the app True Caller. This incident became viral as netizens were discussing the comment and criticised the senior actor, who is known for being civilized and cultured in the public, with memes. 

Amidst the controversy, the actor’s son Akilan Marimuthu released a statement on his Twitter page saying “the account that has commented with his phone number doesn’t belong to him and his phone number is out in the public for quite some time and it has been misused here”. Akilan also shared the official Twitter handle of the actor that shows the actor has not been active on social media since 2019. Fake accounts using the name of famous people has been an issue for a long time. It is to be noted that misusing the phone number of well-known people, and creating controversy should not be encouraged.
