Single Street in Chennai Triplicane reports 42 COVID cases in past 4 days!
Chennai is one of the most badly affected districts by the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic, not just in Tamil Nadu but across India itself. The district has been marked under the Red Zone, as designated by the Central Government and there are well over 200 containment zones, within the City. The number of cases of COVID positive are steadily on the rise, with each passing day. The reason behind this cannot be identified to any particular source but some people believe that one of the reasons for the high numbers is because it is only now that the testing has increased and hence identification of positive cases has also increased! Meanwhile, there has been a shocking news from an area in Chennai!
A recent report states that a single street in Chennai has reported about 42 new COVID positive cases, within the last 4 days alone! There are some speculations that the primary source for these cases could be a COVID infected volunteer, who distributed food in this region! The above mentioned street is the VR Pillai Street in Triplicane, which comes under Division 120 in Zone 9, the Teynampet Zone! There are quite a few other streets in this same area, which are also marked as Containment Zones! An officer from the Chennai Corporation has reportedly mentioned that the infected volunteer has been admitted to the hospital and that he is being treated currently and has also expressed his belief that there won't be any further positive cases from that street! Teynampet Zone is fourth on the list of high infection Zones in Chennai, behind Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar, Royapuram and Tondiarpet! As of May 2nd (Saturday) evening, there have been a total of 1,257 COVID cases reported in Chennai district of which 1,007 are still active with 226 recoveries and 17 deaths.
