A film that stands right at the top of Tamil cinema fans everywhere is the upcoming Ajith Kumar starrer, Valimai, which has the superstar playing the role of a police officer. A H. Vinoth directorial, the film had been announced to be an out-an-out action venture under Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP banner, with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. As a major part of production on Valimai had been wrapped up already in February this year, Ajith's manager Suresh Chandra in an interview to Outlook Magazine has now revealed that there is only an action sequence to be filmed abroad and will be shot once the lockdown and travel restrictions are lifted. He has further stated that the dubbing in the post-production is nearing completion, while adding that the film will be ready for release once the finishing touches are done.

Valimai continues to be a massive film for Ajith and his fans, who are also awaiting the first look from the film, which is yet to be unveiled and has been delayed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The makers had earlier informed fans that under the present circumstances the celebration of a film would not be the right thing, while assuring them that they will come up with a big treat once the coronavirus situation takes a better turn. Valimai is the second consecutive association for Ajith with H. Vinoth, Boney Kapoor and also has composer Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring the tunes and the background score after their blockbuster hit, Nerkonda Paarvai, released last year.

Yuvan had sometime back during an IG live session on JioSaavn stated that the works for the music in the film were underway, which included the Valimai motion poster and other promotional material. Speaking about the Valimai motion poster, Yuvan revealed, "We are working now on the songs in the film and the motion poster. And, the activities for the promotions will begin next." Fans will also know that Yuvan announced that the Valimai opening song will be a mass number for which he had roped in festival drummers from Odisha. Apart from Ajith, Valimai will also include Karthikeya who is speculated to be playing the antagonist, with Kaala fame Huma Qureshi as the female lead, followed by Yogi Babu, Saranya Ravichandran among others forming the supporting cast.
