'Thalapathy' Vijay's Master has revived the Tamil film industry after a disastrous 2020 due to the pandemic, which brought film production to a complete standstill, including shutting down theatres and cinema halls across the state. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj under Xavier Britto's XB Film Creators in association with Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studios, the mass masala action entertainer featuring chart-buster music by Anirudh Ravichander also had 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist, with the film turning out to be a mega box-office blockbuster, even after it began streaming two weeks after its theatrical release.

Master, which has since evoked a huge discussion among fans on social media, now has another big fan in the form of Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru and Mafia: Chapter 1 fame Karthick Naren. Currently directing the tentatively titled D43 with Dhanush in the lead role under the reputed Sathya Jyothi Films banner, Karthick Naren, who is also awaiting the release of his long-delayed Naragasooran, took to social media to share his views on Master, including delving deep into the character of John Durairaj (JD) played by Vijay. Taking to his Instagram Story feature, Karthick Naren shared screenshots of four scenes from Master and wrote, "It's easy to pass off JD as an alcoholic when he is just a broken soul who can't make peace with his traumatic past & memories (the mystery is the icing on the cake). It takes him something extremely heart-breaking (the trigger point which was missing in his life for a while) to bring him back to the reality which he was consciously avoiding. Because most of us end up living in our own world eventually. Definitely one of the best characters out there. @lokesh.kanagaraj na, more JD's please."

Karthick Naren then expressed his interest for a prequel to Master with 'Thalapathy' Vijay's JD and 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's character VC Selvam from Nammavar. He wrote, "A prequel featuring the bond between an innocent John Durairaj & his master VC Selvam, which ultimately ends up in the soul crushing death of one and the mass transformation of the other would be dope, know? The circle of life!!!" Check out the screenshots below:
