Suriya's Soorarai Pottru bagged the Best Feature Film Award at the prestigious Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) and Suriya bagged the award for Best Actor for the same project. The winners were announced on August 20 through a virtual event and wishes poured in from all quarters for Suriya and the entire team of Soorarai Pottru. Having said that, the award has now reached Suriya and his team in Chennai who unboxed it with pride and happiness. The video of Suriya unboxing the award is now doing rounds on social media and it has made the fans delighted.

Suriya unveiled the award and there was also a medal which was unveiled by Suriya's wife and actress Jyotika. Both Suriya and Jyotika were brimming with smiles as they were holding the award and the team of 2D Entertainment celebrated the moment with cheers and applause. Soorarai Pottru is an important film in Suriya's filmography and the film received unanimously positive reviews from the critics and general audience. The film had a direct OTT release on Amazon Prime Video on November 12 and there has been no look back since then. Soorarai Pottru was directed by Sudha Kongara and had music composed by GV Prakash Kumar.

The film featured Aparna Balamurali as the female lead, while the supporting cast included Paresh Rawal, Oorvashi, Karunaas, Kaali Venkat, Vivek Prasanna, KK, and others. The Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru is now on cards and Sudha Kongara will be directing the remake. The pre-production works are happening in full swing and we are yet to know the details regarding the lead cast. The Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru will be produced by Abundantia Entertainment in association with Suriya's 2D Entertainment.
