Silambarasan TR's 2021 is off to a rolling start as the flamboyant star's Eeswaran released this Pongal has turned out to be a big commercial success. The multi-talented actor has been the talk of the town since late last year when he stunned fans with his physical transformation, including making a big comeback on social media. Simbu, who has since been treating fans to a line of film announcements, has also been sharing pictures and videos of himself and his family of late. On Friday, STR surprised fans by posting a special video of him gifting his sister Elakkiya's son, Jason Abi, on the occasion of his birthday. 

In the video, we see Simbu presenting Jason a surprise gift leaving the little bundle of joy all happy, with the actor then giving him a big tight hug. This latest heartwarming video shared by STR has received a huge response from fans, who have been gushing at the actor's sweet gesture towards his adorable nephew. Silambarasan had sometime back posted pictures and videos of himself and Jason having fun, which as well saw fans complimenting the two for having a fun time. 

On the film front, Simbu is currently working on director Venkat Prabhu's mass masala political entertainer Maanaadu, which recently had a teaser released on the actor's birthday. A multi-starrer, Maanaadu being produced by Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions, features music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and will see STR playing a Muslim character named Abdul Khaaliq, with the film apparently revolving around the concept of time as shown in the teaser. With filming said to be more than halfway completed, we can expect Maanaadu to arrive in theatres sometime around the second half of this year. 

Simbu is also a part of Studio Green's massive upcoming biggie, Pathu Thala, an official remake of the Kannada blockbuster Mufti, which had Shiva Rajkumar and Sri Murali in the lead roles. Being directed by Sillunu Oru Kaadhal fame N. Krishna, Pathu Thala features music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman and will see STR playing the role of a gangster, with Gautham Karthik cast as an undercover cop and Priya Bhavani Shankar as his romantic interest. Silambarasan TR will reportedly be sporting a new look for his role in the film, which is expected to go on floors in the days ahead. 

STR is also set to be seen in an extended cameo in Hansika's landmark 50th venture Maha, which will be their on-screen reunion after the 2015 film, Vaalu. Likewise, Simbu also announced on his birthday that he will be doing a film for the Tamil Nadu Movie Makers Sangam, with reputed producer Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh also revealing that the actor is joining hands with blockbuster director Gautham Menon for the third time after their Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada for an upcoming venture under the Vels Film International banner, which will include music by 'Oscar Nayagan' A. R. Rahman.
