Scarlett, who became a global phenomenon in Marvel Studios' superhero blockbuster films, married Colin Jost, a comedian, writer and co-anchor on Saturday Night Live. The couple tied the knot after three years of dating, with rumours of the actress' pregnancy hitting headlines after she did not appear for several promotional events of her film, Black Widow, this year. PageSix reported, "She hasn’t been doing many interviews or events to promote Black Widow, which is surprising since it is a huge Marvel/Disney release and she is both the star and an executive producer." Scarlett did promote the film via Zoom, including appearing virtually on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on June 21, and was shown from only shoulders up.

Known among fans worldwide for her portrayal of the Marvel comic superhero Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow in the Avengers films and several other Marvel Studios' ventures, Scarlett Johansson is currently in the middle of a legal dispute with Disney. Alleging that the powerhouse studio breached her contract by releasing Black Widow on Disney Plus, Johansson claimed that she was guaranteed in her agreement with Disney-owned Marvel Entertainment that the film would be coming out on the big screens exclusively, with her salary discussed in line with the box office results. Her suit stated, "Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel." She will next be seen reprising her role as Ash in Sing 2, the sequel to the 2016 computer-animated musical comedy film, Sing, which will be hitting theatres on December 22, 2021, while also being recently announced to have joined the cast of acclaimed filmmaker Wes Anderson's upcoming multi-starrer featuring names like Tom Hanks, Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Margot Robbie, Bryan Cranston, Rupert Friend, Jason Schwartzman, Hope Davis, Jeffrey Wright and Liev Schreiber.
