Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, the 87-year-old veteran director is all set to get back in the field very soon to direct a Telugu film. He is planning to do a biopic on the life of Bangalore Nagarathnamma who happens to be a descendant of the famous devadasi community who went on to become a popular Carnatic single and cultural activist. Nagarathnamma built a temple over the samadhi of the Carnatic singer Tyagaraja at Thiruvaiyaru and helped establish the Tyagaraja Aradhana festival in his memory. The makers had initially planned to rope in Anushka to play the title role but it looks like the tide is now favouring on Samantha’s side. It will be a Tamil/Telugu bilingual and the movie is likely to kick-start by the latter half of 2020.

Singeetam Srinivasa Rao is the man who has given us some cult classic Tamil films like Apoorva Sagodharargal and Michael Madana Kama Rajan. He has plenty more blockbuster Telugu films under his kitty. Singeetam is also working on a Tamil web-series. He has written the story but he will not be directing the show; that responsibility has been handed over to Badri Venkatesh who we know has directed films such as Banna Kathadi and Semma Botha Aagatha.
