The second wave of Covid-19 virus is getting intense and severe with every passing day and right now, vaccination is probably one of the best measures to control the spread. The Indian Government has approved two vaccines - Covishield and Covaxin and the citizens of the country have been requested to take the jab to stay safe. Earlier today (May 13), Superstar Rajinikanth took the jab and the picture of the same has now gone viral on social media. Rajinikanth's younger daughter and director, Soundarya Rajinikanth took to her official Twitter page to share the picture and it has made the fans happy.

Soundarya, who accompanied Rajinikanth during the vaccination, wrote on her Twitter page, "Our Thalaivar gets his vaccine Let us fight and win this war against Corona virus together #ThalaivarVaccinated #TogetherWeCan #MaskOn #StayHomeStaySafe". This is Rajinikanth's first dose of vaccination and he will be taking the second dose in the next few weeks.

Yesterday (May 12), Rajinikanth returned to Chennai after completing a month-long schedule of his next film, Annaatthe. After a very long time, the fans will be seeing Rajinikanth in a full fledged rural action-family drama and everyone is eagerly looking forward to seeing the film. Annaatthe is directed by Siva of Viswasam fame, while the music is scored by D Imman. Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures, Annaatthe features an ensemble star cast that includes Khushbu Sundar, Meena, Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu, Soori, Sathish, and others.

Vetri and Ruben have handled the cinematography and editing departments respectively. The film is currently scheduled to release on November 4 for the festive occasion of Diwali, but the plan might change, depending upon the intensity of the Covid-19 situation. He is also listening to scripts from popular filmmakers for his next outing after Annaatthe and an official announcement regarding the project can be expected very soon.
