Actors coming from political families has become a fashion now in all South Indian film industries. A successful film career improves the images of stars which eventually gives them a push in the political field as well. Nikhil Kumarswamy is one actor with such lofty ambition, he comes from a political family with an aspiration to make it big in Kannada and Telugu film industries. Nikhil is the son of former Karnataka Chief Minister Kumaraswamy and grandson of Deve Gowda, former Indian Prime Minister.  
 
Nikhil contested in last year’s Lok Sabha elections from Mandya District, he represented his party Janata Dal. He eventually lost the election, he was opposed by another film star Sumalatha Ambareesh. The yesteryear veteran heroine won the election with a whopping margin of 1.2 lakh votes. This set back has forced him to concentrate more on movies. He has signed to play the lead in sport film which would be made in Telugu and Kannada. This untitled flick is produced by Lahari music label and would be directed by Vijaykumar Konda.
