The entire world is on a state of emergency after the COVID - 19 virus, known as the coronavirus, has left governments across the globe taking safety measures from the dreaded disease for which a medicine is yet to be found. The worldwide death toll from the coronavirus has come to 11,000 with social distancing being advised by governments as one of the prime safety measures. Likewise, the Indian government has been encouraging her citizens to adopt social distancing for the next two weeks till March 31 to reduce the spread of the disease in groups with veteran Tamil actor turned politician Kamal Haasan too now urging fans and followers to stay low for the next few days.

Kamal Haasan had earlier yesterday requested the leading stars of Tamil cinema namely 'Superstar' Rajinikanth, 'Thala' Ajith, 'Thalapathy' Vijay, Suriya, 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Dhanush, Simbu, 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi and music composers 'Isaignani' Ilaiyaraaja, Anirudh, G. V. Prakash Kumar, Ghibran and Devi Sri Prasad to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for Janata Curfew, which will happen tomorrow (March 22) from 7AM-9PM.

Kamal Haasan has now shared videos on his Twitter page in which he's seen informing the public about the importance of social distancing and how it is effective in stopping the spread of the coronavirus, which has been declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). In the videos, Kamal Haasan states it is vital that social distancing be adopted for the next two weeks considering the effects of coronavirus tend to take a sharp rise in its fourth and fifth weeks and it is at this period that people should avoid hanging out in groups. He urged that these preventive measures need to be taken now with immediate effect rather than later when it can be too late.
