In a surprising turn of events, ace filmmaker Shankar has made a big breaking announcement on his next film. Yes! Shankar will be teaming up with the young and sensational Ranveer Singh for his next and it will be a Hindi film. This film will be the official Hindi remake of Shankar's blockbuster hit, Anniyan that starred Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role. Anniyan is a very important film for both Shankar and Vikram and it earned cult status after its release. Anniyan released in 2005 and after a gap of 16 years, the Hindi remake has now been announced. Shankar took to his official Twitter page to make this exciting announcement and it has already created a sensational buzz on social media.

Ranveer Singh is one of the leading actors in the country who has a huge fan base and it is going to be interesting to see him perform in a challenging script like Anniyan. This Hindi remake will be produced by Dr Jayantilal Gada under the banner of Pen Movies. Sharing a new photoshoot picture with Ranveer Singh and producer Jayantilal Gada, director Shankar wrote on his Twitter page, "In this moment, no one will be happier than me, bringing back the larger than life cinematic experience with @RanveerOfficial in the official adaptation of cult blockbuster Anniyan. @jayantilalgada @PenMovies".

This new announcement has excited the fans and it is going to be exciting to see how the film fares among the Hindi audience. Interestingly, this film will also mark Shankar's return to Hindi cinema after 20 years. Shankar had directed Nayak (starring Anil Kapoor), the Hindi remake of Mudhalvan, which released in 2001. The makers have planned to start the principal photography of this pan Indian entertainer from the middle of next year, 2022, and further details are awaited. The film will be co-produced by God Bless Entertainment and the music rights of the film have already been acquired by Saregama.

Director Shankar is already committed to doing a Telugu - Tamil bilingual film with Ram Charan under the production of Dil Raju and we will have to wait for a few more months to get better clarity about Shankar's plan of action. Two pan Indian mega biggies have been announced and let us see which one begins first. Meanwhile, Shankar also has Indian 2, with Kamal Haasan and the project has been temporarily stalled due to various reasons. Let us hope that Indian 2 gets wrapped up as soon as possible.
