Two-time Academy Award nominee Catherine Keener will be joining the cast of Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga's Joker: Folie à Deux, which will be directed by Todd Phillips for Warner Bros. and DC Films. According to reports, the actress will be sharing the screen with actors like Brendan Gleeson who was added to the cast recently, while Zazie Beetz is set to reprise her role once again after 2019's Joker. Production on Joker: Folie à Deux is expected to kick off sometime this December after WB recently confirmed that the upcoming sequel will open in cinemas worldwide on October 4, 2024. As of now, no comment has been made on Keener's casting in the film, who is best known for her work in Being John Malkovich (1999), Capote (2005), The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Into the Wild (2007), Synecdoche, New York (2008), Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010), and Get Out (2017), including a voice role in Incredibles 2 (2018).
