In shocking news, popular Tamil cinema lyricist Kabilan's daughter Thoorigai died by suicide on Friday, September 9, at her residence in MMDA, Arumbakkam, Chennai. According to reports, she was found dead by hanging and the police have launched an investigation into her death. The news of Thoorigai's death has left everyone in shock and many have been expressing their condolences on social media. Thoorigai Kabilan was a costume designer and had also launched her own publication called the 'Being Women Magazine', which was launched by filmmakers Pa. Ranjith and Cheran, and actress Vimala Raman. She had also done costume design for popular Tamil actors G. V. Prakash Kumar and Ashok Selvan for her 'Being Women Magazine'. 

Lyricist Kabilan had carved a niche for himself in Tamil cinema and was one of the big names in the film industry having written lyrics for films starring leading heroes like Rajinikanth, Vijay, and Ajith, to name a notable few. Hailing from Puducherry, the popular Tamil film lyricist was residing with his family at MMDA Colony in Arumbakkam, Chennai and the incident of his daughter Thoorigai committing suicide has now left everyone in a state of huge shock.
