Drishyam is one of the biggest hits in the history of Malayalam cinema and it was the first Malayalam film to collect 50 crores at the box office. Drishyam was highly raved by the critics and the general audience for its gripping screenplay and smart writing. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film starred Mohanlal and Meena in the lead roles, while the supporting cast included Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sarath, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajon, Neeraj Madhav, Irshad, Roshan Basheer, Kunchan and others. As we all know, the sequel to this blockbuster hit film is on cards and the announcement regarding the project was made earlier this year, on May 21, on account of Mohanlal’s birthday.

It is said that Drishyam 2 will begin from the shot where the first part ended. The shooting is expected to start very soon and will be shot entirely in Kerala in a span of two months. Drishyam 2 will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirvad Cinemas.Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph have planned to shoot Drishyam 2 as a quickie in and around Kerala with a limited cast and crew, following the Covid 19 protocols provided by the Government. It has now been officially announced that actress Meena who played Georgekutty’s (Mohanlal) wife in Drishyam will continue in the sequel as well.

Yes! Meena is celebrating her birthday today (September 16) and marking the special occasion, the announcement about Meena’s addition to Drishyam 2 was made. Mohanlal took to his social media page to share this news with the fans and followers. He posted, “Happy Birthday Meena and Welcoming you to the sets of #Drishyam2”. This new announcement has made the fans excited and it is indeed going to be interesting to see the lovely pair of Drishyam back again for its sequel. We will have to wait for a few more weeks to know if the daughters and the other supporting characters would also be retained for the sequel.

Meena is currently playing one of the female leads in Superstar Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe, alongside Khushbu Sundar, Keerthy Suresh and Nayanthara. The fans have got high expectations on Annaatthe which is directed by Siva of Viswasam fame and produced by Sun Pictures.
