Tamil actor Vijay distributed relief materials to the people in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts on Saturday, December 30, who were affected by the floods in the district due to heavy rainfall earlier this month. The leading Tamil actor arrived in Tirunelveli today morning and extended support to the people affected by the cyclone by donating relief materials to 400 families each from both the southern districts, with pictures and videos of his appearance in the city now taking social media by storm. Apart from distributing relief materials, Vijay or 'Thalapathy' as he is fondly addressed by his fans everywhere, is reported to have provided financial assistance to the people whose family members passed away in the floods, including those who lost their houses.

Vijay's appearance in Tirunelveli was facilitated today by his fan association, 'Thalapathy' Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (TVMI), with Bussy Anand, Secretary, seen alongside the actor. Seen in a navy blue shirt and black pants, while sporting a stubble, the Tamil superstar's interaction with the families at the meeting is said to have lasted close to three hours, who also posed for selfies and videos with ardent fans. Vijay was received with a grand welcome in Tirunelveli since he had arrived in the city after several years, with many thronging outside the marriage hall where he distributed relief materials to those affected by the Nellai floods.

'Thalapathy' Vijay's latest decision to offer assistance to the flood-affected families of Tirunelveli and Tuticorin today comes after he directed members of the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam to join hands with the Tamil Nadu government in relief work after Cyclone Michaung wreaked havoc in Chennai earlier this month. His statement in Tamil translated into English on X reads: "Due to the heavy rains caused by Cyclone Michuang in Chennai and its suburbs, children, women and the elderly are suffering a lot. There are reports that thousands of people are facing hardships without water, food and any adequate basic facilities. There are still many voices on social media asking for help to rescue from the flooded areas." He added, "I request our welfare club members to volunteer to help those in need to whatever extent they can in the rescue mission undertaken by the government. Let's join hands to remove sufferings."
