While the supporters of prime minister Narendra Modi and the BJP party tweeted to show support and began a hashtag #KemchoModi, coined from the tag of HowdyModi which was used when Modi visited Trump back in September last year.

Trump on Tuesday reportedly said that PM Modi told him that millions of people will welcome him all the way from the airport in Ahmedabad to the new Motera Stadium. Narendra Modi reportedly told him that people would line up all the way to the stadium to greet him.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Trump will be attending an event at the Ahmedabad stadium on lines of the ‘Howdy Modi’ event. While many rejoiced at the furtherment of relations with America, Tweeple have been lamenting the fact that Indian money was spent for the program Howdy Modi, just like how Indian money would be spent for the Trump visit too.
Some accused the ruling party of creating 'fanfare' to draw attention away from the rising nationwide dissent.
