Auto driver hacked to death by lover's son
A 31-year-old auto driver was hacked to death by a 21-year-old youth who had allegedly asked the man to stay away from his mother. The victim and the culprit's mother were reportedly having an affair.
Sources said that victim Basha, an auto driver hailing from Chitlapakkam, had had previous clashes with the accused Ajith (21) and his friends. Basha, who had married one Parveen eight years ago, had two children aged eight and seven. However, Parveen and Basha separated three years ago, following which he rented a house in Vinayakapuram.
In Vinayakapuram, he became friendly with a woman named Lakshmi, and the two soon began an affair roughly three years ago. The woman's elder son, called 'Periya' Ajith to differentiate from another Ajith in the locality, had reportedly warned the man off during that time. Two years ago, Basha was arrested and lodged at the Puzhal Prison for slicing off Ajith's ear. A year later, the boy and three other friends attacked Basha with machettes, following which they were arrested.
On Monday night, Close to 11 p.m, Basha and Lakshmi were talking to Basha's mother Mehbooba when a gang of five apprehended them near School Road junction, Kolathur. They hacked at him, ignoring the two women and the man, who sustained serious injuires to the back and face, died on the spot. The Rajamangalam Police, which registered a case, picked up five, identified as 'Periya' Ajith (21), Ashwin (22), Ashok (22), Panneerselvam (20), and Santhosh (22). Basha's body was taken to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital.
