The COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus originated from the Wuhan Province of China but has since spread all over the world and claimed innumerous lives! Ever since the Pandemic's outbreak, almost all the countries went into lockdown mode and all people stayed inside their houses for lengthy periods of time. Just as the government and health authorities took a minor step towards containing the spread of the Virus, it crossed its peak and despite the Virus not being completely eradicated, countries began lifting the lockdown restrictions! Though this was because the spread of the Virus had come under control in most places, the main reason behind lifting the lockdown and allowing people to resume their normal lives was more because the world economy was failing and people were losing their livelihoods and nations' econonomies were suffering!
However, the authorities have been reiterating at each given point that the Virus is still present and that all mandated safety precautions have to be followed! Unfortunately, this is true and recently, Italy announced the imposition of a second nation-wide lockdown recently, to curb the sudden spike in the new number of Corona Virus cases. This was being considered the second wave of the Virus's spread, which has been prophesied by many scientists and health analysts! Now, another European country has followed in Italy's wake! The Spanish government has now declared a nation-wide emergency, to combat the second wave of the Corona Virus, which is spreading in the country! Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has on Sunday, declared a national state of emergency and a curfew across Spain, except in the Canary Islands!
In a staggering news, the PM Sanchez has announced that this State of Emergency would last till the beginning of May 2021! A statement from the government details that the overnight curfew would be in place from 11:00 pm till 6:00 am! However, in a positive measure, the PM announced that if the situation improves, the curfew measures would be lifted far sooner than stated! The PM mentioned, "The state of emergency is the most effective tool to lower the rate of infection." He requested the people of Spain, "Let's stay home as much as possible. The more we stay home, the more protected we and others will be." The current rate of infection in Spain is 362 cases per 100,000 and the aim of the emergency is to reduce it to 25! However, this new lockdown will not be as strict as the earlier one and will allow the country's borders to remain open. Stay tuned for updates...
