Leading Tamil actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar got engaged to gallerist Nicholai Sachdev in a private ceremony on Friday, March 1, in Mumbai. The intimate ceremony was held in the presence of family members and close friends and the couple exchanged engagement rings with their parents' blessings. It has also been revealed that Varalaxmi and Nicholai have known each other for 14 years and will be tying the knot later this year.
On Saturday, the families of Varalaxmi and Nicholai released an official statement about their engagement along with photos from the private ceremony. "Actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Gallerist Nicholai Sachdev got engaged in an intimate ceremony in the presence of family and close friends held in Mumbai on the 1st of March. Varalaxmi and Nicholai who have known each other for the past 14 years exchanged rings with the blessings of their parents. The couple is excited to plan their wedding scheduled to take place later this year", the statement read.
Congratulatory messages and wishes are pouring in for Varalaxmi and Nicholai from all quarters on social media and all sights are now set on when they will be tying the knot this year. Pictures from the engagement ceremony have also been released showing the young couple looking smitten and in love. The photos also show Varalaxmi's father actor-politician Sarathkumar, her sister Pooja, followed by her step-mother Radikaa Sarathkumar along with her daughter Rayane Mithun. Expressing her happiness on the occasion, Raadika wrote on Instagram, "Our dearest @varusarathkumar finds her soulmate #Nicolaisachdev, gets engaged yesterday in mumbai with family and friends. We wish them all happiness, and would love yours too🙏🙏🙏🙏" (sic)
Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who made a sensational debut in Podaa Podi (2012), is best known among Tamil cinema fans for her performances in films Tharai Thappattai (2016), Vikram Vedha (2017), Sandakozhi 2 (2018), Sarkar (2018), Maari 2 (2018), Iravin Nizhal (2022), including the recent Hanu Man in Telugu. She will be seen next in a key role in Dhanush's highly-anticipated Raayan in Tamil, followed by Sabari in Telugu and the upcoming Malayalam film Colors.
