A formal pooja ceremony for Thalapathy 68 was held on October 2 and production was also flagged off on the same day. The film is described as a "fun roller coaster ride" by blockbuster director Venkat Prabhu and will feature songs and a background score composed by celebrated music director Yuvan Shankar Raja making it his second outing with Vijay after Pudhiya Geethai (2003). Billed to be a "high-octane action film", Thalapathy 68 is scheduled for a grand theatrical release in 2024, with both Vijay and Venkat Prabhu traveling to Los Angeles, California, some time back to reportedly discuss with the team at the USC Institute of Creative Technologies about the implementation of a 3D VFX scan technology called Light Stage in the film.
