Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju, who is now the talk of the town after the sensational success of Premalu, was all set for her Tamil cinema debut in acclaimed filmmaker Bala's Vanangaan. The Tamil film was launched in early 2022 with Suriya before the National Award-winning actor opted out of the project following which a new cast was announced that includes Arun Vijay and Roshini Prakash in the lead roles. In the meantime, Mamitha recently opened up in a Malayalam podcast interview about the time she spent on the Vanangaan sets, including her working experience with director Bala.
During the interview, Mamitha spoke about performing the villadichampaatu (villu pattu) and how she managed to pull it off after three takes. She mentioned that Bala would pat her and sometimes scold her during the Vanangaan shooting. The young sensation's statements soon after created a stir online, with many calling out the National Award-winning Tamil filmmaker. That being said, Mamitha on Thursday evening, February 29, issued a clarification informing that her statements have been misconstrued and taken out of context.
Responding to the false claims about Bala hurting her physically during the filming of Vanangaan, Mamitha Baiju issued a detailed statement posted on her Instagram Story writing, "Hello Everyone, I would like to clarify that the news being circulated online regarding my involvement with a Tamil film is absolutely baseless. An excerpt from a film promotion interview, has been taken out of context and is being clearly misquoted to create this irresponsible headline." (sic) The Super Sharanya (2022) star added, "I have worked with Bala Sir for close to a year including pre-production and production of the film. He has always been kind enough to help me become a better actor. I would like to reiterate that I have not experienced any mental or physical harm or any other sort of abusive behaviour during my work on that film. I opted out of that film later on, only because of other professional commitments. I would also like to thank those Media Houses who have contacted me to verify the news before publishing. Thankyou for your understanding!😊🙏" (sic)
