Blockbuster Tamil filmmaker Atlee, who shattered box office records with his Jawan (2023) starring Shah Rukh Khan, is returning to Bollywood and this time as a producer for Baby John, previously tentatively titled VD 18. Starring leading actor Varun Dhawan in the lead role, the highly-anticipated film also features National Award-winning Tamil actress Keerthy Suresh, who is making her big Hindi debut, with Wamiqa Gabbi cast in a key role. In that light, an intense and action-packed glimpse for Baby John has been unveiled on Monday, February 5, introducing Varun Dhawan's character, along with the big reveal of the film's worldwide theatrical release on May 31 this year.
The promotional video for Baby John showcases Varun Dhawan seated on a throne similar to the one seen on the hit American series Game of Thrones. We see him looking intense and angry as fires rage on around him and traditional dancers are seen belting their dance moves, with the final moments of the glimpse showing him taking out several goons and thugs one after another. There is massive buzz surrounding Baby John as it is the official remake of the Tamil blockbuster, Theri (2016), directed by Atlee and starred 'Thalapathy' Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Amy Jackson in the roles, which also featured chart-topping hit songs and a powerful background score composed by National Award winner G. V. Prakash Kumar.
Apart from Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi, Baby John will also see actors Jackie Shroff and Rajpal Yadav appearing in pivotal roles, with the music being composed by blockbuster South Indian composer Thaman. S. Varun, who has often excelled in the action department, will be looking to come out firing on all cylinders in the upcoming film, which is being billed to be the 'biggest action entertainer of 2024'.
