Aug 06 - TN COVID Update: 5864 New Cases | 110 New Deaths | Total - 279,141 Cases & 4571 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! Today, the numbers seem to be slowly increasing and the death rate has been has crossed 100 for the fourth consecutive day! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5864 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 279,141! Of these, 1091 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 106,095! Kancheepuram has recorded 336 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 10993, while 2872 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 16897 total cases of which 2644 are currently active and Madurai has recorded a total of 11689 cases with 1864 of them being currently active. Chengalpattu alone has recorded 408 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Kancheepuram registered 336 new cases and Thiruvallur has recorded 320 new cases!

There have been 110 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 4571. The number of deaths per day has now crossed 100 for the fourth consecutive day! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 106,095 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 53,486 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 11,720! The number of recoveries has been very good over the last few days and again, today's recoveries are higher than the number of new infections! There have been 6272 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 221,087. There have been 67,153 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 3,020,714 tests, which continues to remain the highest for any state in our country!
