Vishnu Vishal’s Ratsasan is one of the biggest hits of 2018 and it got an overwhelming reception from the audience. The film turned out to be a blockbuster that had housefull shows for more than a month which is a rarity in today’s scenario. The highly engaging and thrilling screenplay was one of the major reasons for the film to win among the audience and it was rightly supported by Ghibran’s intense background music and convincing performances of the lead actors. The character of ‘Christopher’ played by Naan Saravanan was highly appreciated by the critics and general audience.

Even a few weeks back when the film was aired on Sun TV, the entire social media was abuzz about it. The film was directed by Ramkumar who earlier made the rural comedy drama, Mundasupatti and it was an unexpected genre shift from the talented filmmaker. Produced by Axess Film Factory, Ratsasan’s star cast also included Amala Paul, Kaali Venkat, Ammu Abhirami, Munishkanth Ramadoss, and others. The film had cinematography by PV Shankar and editing by San Lokesh.

Having said that, this psycho crime thriller has now been ranked as the No.1 Tamil film in IMDB with a rating of 8.5. Notably, it has been ranked at the third position in the list of All Time Top Rated Indian Movies, just behind Satyajit Ray's Pather Panchali (1955) and Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Gol Maal (1979). Ratsasan's director Ramkumar took to his Twitter page to share his excitement about this. He tweeted, "#RATSASAN has been ranked as the #1 Tamil film in @IMDb, Further, it has been ranked #3 in all Time Top Indian Movies. Thanks to @IMDb users Thanks to Whole #Ratsasan team". Vishnu Vishal, for his part, tweeted, “#RATSASAN KEEPS BREAKING ITS OWN RECORDS… THANK YOU FOR ALL D LOVE …”.

Wishes have been pouring in from various quarters for the entire team of Ratsasan and this must indeed come as a big boost for them to create more such quality films. Currently, Ramkumar is busy with the scripting works of his next film that will star Dhanush in the lead role. This new project will be bankrolled by Sathya Jyothi Films. The film is in the pre production stages and the shooting is expected to begin next year after Dhanush completes his current commitments.
