New Zealand actor Antony Starr, known best among fans for playing the superhero Homelander in Amazon Prime Video's original series The Boys, was arrested in Alicante, Spain earlier this week for allegedly assaulting a chef during an altercation. The incident, which took place in the early hours of March 2, was first reported in the local outlet La Informacion, with American media later confirming the 46-year-old actor's arrest for attacking the chef at a pub while he was drunk. Reports further state Starr was shooting a Guy Ritchie film at the location and had allegedly punched the 21-year-old Venezuelan chef on the face twice, who was rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance. The actor allegedly smashed the man's face with a glass and has since received four stitches above his eye, The New Zealand Herald has reported.

In a follow-up report by La Informacion, Starr, who also played the lead role in the action television series Banshee, has been handed a 12-month suspended sentence for his crime. Apparently, he will have to pay around $5,500 to the victim within 72 hours if he has to avoid jail time. The actor had covered his face by wearing a hoodie and a face mask during a speedy trial at a court in Alicante and was driven away in a taxi after the proceedings. American media outlet Variety has stated that any conviction in Spain under two years will be suspended immediately if the person guilty has no prior criminal record, which Starr does not. Amazon is scheduled to present The Boys season 3 at SXSW, which will also include the panels and immersive fan experiences.
