‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth fans are set to have a fantastic 2020 as the veteran actor's first film, Darbar, an action cop entertainer, will be hitting screens for Pongal on January 9. The iconic star will also be seen in his next film, tentatively titled Thalaivar 168, which has been billed to be a full-length rural family entertainer, with speculations floating around that it may arrive in theatres as a Diwali 2020 release.
That said, filming on Thalaivar 168 had kicked off yesterday as we had reported earlier with a majority of the main star cast participating in the ongoing schedule. With a star cast that is already massive, actor Vishwanth, who had previously starred alongside Rajinikanth in the 2016 blockbuster, Kabali, will once again be seen in a major supporting role in the Thalaivar 168. Being produced by Sun Pictures, the main star cast for the film includes names like Khushbu, Meena, Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raj, comedians Sathish and Soori, which gives us the hint that director Siva has carved a story that will cater to be a full-on family entertainer.
Likewise, D. Imman had revealed on his Twitter page that Thalaivar 168 had kicked off with a song shoot with hit composer further adding that it was a pleasant experience to meet Rajinikanth prior to the film going on floors. It now remains to be known whether it was the intro song of the 'Superstar' that is being shot or a some other track that would feature at a different point during the course of the film.
