Actor-producer Suriya's Soorarai Pottru directed by Sudha Kongara under the collaboration of 2D Entertainment and Sikhya Entertainment banners and featuring music by G. V. Prakash Kumar premiered last year on Amazon Prime Video as a grand Diwali treat. Despite skipping its initial theatrical release plan, the film turned out to be a phenomenal success, with fans and critics showering praises on the performances, the making, including other production aspects. Coming off as the most-watched regional language film in the history of Amazon Prime Video, 2D Entertainment had back in July announced that Soorarai Pottru would be remade in Hindi in association with Abundantia Entertainment. However, Sikhya Entertainment later filed an injunction application at the Madras High Court against 2D Entertainment and Abundantia Entertainment to not proceed with the Soorarai Pottru Hindi remake.

The case had come for hearing at the Madras High Court on Wednesday, with the bench vacating the injunction granted to Sikhya Entertainment, thereby paving the way for 2D Entertainment and Abundantia Entertainment to go ahead with the Soorarai Pottru Hindi remake. According to sources, 2D Entertainment had pleaded that it had paid Sikhya Entertainment a huge sum for facilitating the acquisition of the rights of the book "Simply Fly" from Captain Gopinath, apart from the actual rights money paid by Suriya’s production banner.

Soorarai Pottru has been basking in the glory ever since its release, with the film and Suriya winning the Best Film and Best Actor awards at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) recently. Apart from Suriya, Soorarai Pottru also had excellent performances from other stars starting with the film's heroine Aparna Balamurali, who shone bright in her role, followed by veteran Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal rising to the top as the antagonist in his Tamil cinema debut, including Urvashi, Mohan Babu,Vivek Prasanna, Krishnakumar, Karunas, Kaali Venkat garnering appreciation. The upcoming Soorarai Pottru Hindi remake will see Sudha Kongara once again stepping to the director's chair, with the cast and crew for the film expected to be made soon.
