'Superstar' Rajinikanth conveyed his wishes to actor Vijay on the launch of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, on Tuesday, February 6. The iconic Tamil star addressed the press at the Chennai Airport as he was leaving to board his flight for the shooting of his upcoming film at Hyderabad, Telangana, when he was queried by the media about Vijay entering the political arena and launching his party. Responding to the query, Rajinikanth kept his reply short with a smile saying, "Congratulations"

Vijay, fondly addressed by his fans and followers as 'Thalapathy', launched the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam on February 2 and informed that the political party will not be contesting in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, but will make its electoral debut in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The actor, who is currently filming The Greatest of All Time under Venkat Prabhu's direction, also conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their wishes on his journey in politics in an official note writing, "I profusely thank from the bottom of my heart respected leaders of various political parties, beloved film fraternity friends, affectionate brothers, sisters, and mothers of Tamilnadu". (sic) He added, "My dearest and always encouraging media friends, last but not the least, my huge pillar of support "En Nenjil Kudiyirukkum Thozargal" for wishing me on my new political journey for the welfare and victory of TamilNadu." (sic) 

On the other hand, 'Superstar' Rajinikanth is awaiting the release of his daughter Aishwarya's filmmaking directoral Lal Salaam hitting screens on February 9, which will see him making a special appearance as the character Moideen bhai. He is at present busy shooting his next big film, Vettaiyan, under T. J. Gnanavel's direction, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan in key roles, with 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander composing the songs and the background score. Rajinikanth is also expected to join the production of the tentatively titled Thalaivar 171 under Lokesh Kanagaraj's direction after he wraps up Vettaiyan
