Despite having 2 releases in 2019, it was a forgettable year for actor Suriya. He would like to turn the tides this year with his next movie Soorarai Pottru. This movie also stars Aparna Balamurali in the lead role. The cast of this project includes Bollywood veteran Paresh Rawal, who is making his Tamil debut with this movie. Directed by Sudha Kongara of Irudhi Suttru fame, Soorarai Pottru is being bankrolled jointly by Suriya's 2D Entertainment banner and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment banner. GV Prakash is scoring the music for this movie, which has Niketh Bommireddy's cinematography and Sathish Suriya's editing. The shoot for this movie is complete and it is currently in the post production stage.

GV Prakash has been giving out regular updates about this project and it is only serving to keep Suriya's fans waiting with bated breath for more! The movie has been planned to be released for this year's summer. Suriya’s 2D Entertainment has now announced that they will be making a special update today evening at 5 PM. Will it be about another poster release, or the second single release or any other business-related announcement is something we will have to wait and see. Meanwhile, the Maara theme which was released a week back has been ruling the charts. Even the teaser got excellent reception from its target audience.
