A beloved pair in Tamil cinema, Silambarasan TR and Hansika were seen on screen only once in the 2015 film, Vaalu. Their chemistry was given a double thumbs up by fans as many have since then been waiting to witness them in action once again. That wait came to an end when it was announced that STR would be appearing in an extended cameo in Hansika's landmark 50th film, Maha. However, there was an unexpected setback sometime back when the director of the film, U. R. Jameel filed a case in court alleging that producer Mathiyazhagan’s Etcetera Entertainment was planning to release it on an OTT platform.

Seeking an injunction on the release of the film, Jameel had also alleged that a lot of other works on Maha had been completed without his consultation or knowledge. In his petition, Jameel had appealed that he was not paid his entire fee for the directorial duties of Maha and also demanded to be compensated by Rs. 10 lakhs for interference with his work in the film without his approval. On Tuesday, the petition had come up for a hearing before Judge Jayachandran after which the producers' side agreed to pay Jameel Rs. 5.5 lakh as the pending amount that needed to be given to him, to which he had given his consent as well.

It has also been said that the producer of Maha is currently working on getting it released on an OTT platform. The Court had subsequently dismissed the petition for an interim order restraining the release of the film. In the meantime, the judge had also informed that the hearing had been adjourned to June 28, while issuing orders to both the sides to file a written argument in the main case.

Apart from Simbu and Hansika, Maha also stars Srikanth in the lead role followed by Thambi Ramaiah, Karunakaran, Nassar among others in vital supporting roles, with music by Ghibran for whom it is his 25th film in his career. STR will be seen playing the role of a pilot in the film, with shooting spot stills released so far leaving his fans mighty excited.
