For pretty much most 90s kids grown up in India would have had a mad craze over the superhero television show Shaktimaan that aired on DD from 1997 to 2005. The series was a huge hit back then and it featured actor Mukesh Khanna in the lead role. Shaktimaan was depicted as a human who has attained superhuman powers through meditation and five elements of nature: Space, Earth, Air, Fire, Water. Many 90s kids believed that Shaktimaan was real life character as children set themselves on fire or jumped off buildings hoping that Shaktimaan would save them. Mukesh Khanna has now announced that a sequel to Shaktimaan has been planned by DD channel. He has given a video statement which has been translated in English for our readers:

"For the last three years, we have been working towards bringing out the second edition of Shaktimaan, which is contemporary but rooted in our values. I feel whenever we return to work after this crisis, I will be in a better position to bring out the second part because the demand for it is higher than ever before. I wanted to make a full-fledged feature film on Shaktimaan, but had to make do with a telefilm when the finances for it didn’t work out as planned."
