Rajinikanth reveals how sarath babu helped with lengthy annaamalai dialogue - Tamil Movie Cinema News

'Superstar' Rajinikanth visited Sarath Babu's residence in Chennai on Tuesday to pay his last respects to the South Indian actor, who passed away yesterday. The actor passed away at the age of 51 in Hyderabad due to multiorgan failure because of multiple Myeloma. Having worked with Sarath Babu in several blockbuster films, Rajinikanth expressed his sorrow at the actor's passing and recalled an incident about his smoking habit back at the time on the sets of Annaamalai

Rajinikanth said, "I knew Sarath Babu before becoming an actor. We were good friends. He was a wonderful human being and would keep smiling all the time. I've never seen him being serious or angry. You all know that I acted with him in many films, which became huge hits." He continued, Starting with Mullum Malarum, we acted in Velaikaran, Annaamalai, Muthu, and many more. He had a lot of affection for me. Whenever he used to see me smoking a cigarette, he would feel sad. He would advise me to quit smoking so that I should lead a long and healthy life. If he saw me smoking, he would throw the cigarette away and I then stopped doing it when I was around him."

Recalling an experience he had during the filming of Annaamalai, Rajinikanth said, "There's a lengthy dialogue in the film where I throw a challenge to Sarath Babu. It went on for around 10-15 takes. The emotions didn't come out well." He added, Sarath Babu noticed this and called me to his side. He then sent a person to get me a cigarette and told me to take a few puffs after which I became relaxed and then I got the take done. I'm telling this to show how affectionate he was towards me. From telling me to take care of my health, he isn't there with us anymore and I feel extremely sad now. I pray for his soul to rest in peace."
