Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam's dream film, Ponniyin Selvan: 1, the big-screen adaptation of legendary Tamil writer Kalki Krishnamurthy's celebrated book of the same name, is set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on September 30. As tickets everywhere are selling like hotcakes, Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions are leaving no stone unturned in promoting the upcoming epic historical film, with the makers releasing new promos every day. In that light, on Tuesday, September 27, the team released a new PS 1 promo giving a glimpse at all three heroes of the film - 'Chiyaan' Vikram as Adita Karikalan, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman, Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyadevan - along with the announcement that Kalki's acclaimed novel is coming out as two films, with the first installment arriving in cinemas in the next three days.
The new Ponniyin Selvan promo starts off with a bang as the lead trio appear riding horses with fervor and spirit into the battle zone before the visuals cut to a close-up of Vikram looking back with the utmost rage at what can be assumed to be one of the foes in the film, while Karthi shows off his silambam skills, and Jayam Ravi is seen commanding a massive fleet of ships as the captain. This latest PS 1 promo is filled with a lot of mass moments and will surely add to the hype and intrigue surrounding the film, which has been carrying tremendous buzz on social media over the past few days.
Ponniyin Selvan: 1 has been a lifelong dream venture for Mani Ratnam and a lot is riding on the film, with the team recently revealing during the press tour that the second installment will be coming out in the next nine months. Featuring music by Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman, the composer has hit the high note once again with his songs once again trending at the top of the charts. Apart from Vikram, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi, the Ponniyin Selvan core cast features Trisha as Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini forming the core cast, while Aishwarya Lekshmi will be seen as Poonguzhali, R.
