Directed by iconic filmmaker Priyadarshan, the epic historical war film tells the story of Kunjali Marakkar IV, naval commander of the Samoothiri and is set in the 16th century. We are moving forward with the faith that it will have your prayers and support." There has been massive excitement surrounding Mohanlal's Marakkar as it has been made on a grand scale, with the visuals shown so far in the teaser and trailer leaving everyone speechless, including the film already winning three awards for  Best Feature Film, Best Special Effects, and Best Costume at the 67th National Film Awards.  It had also been announced that the film will be getting released in Tamil Nadu as well by blockbuster producer Kalaipulu S.
