Blockbuster Hollywood director James Cameron's films over the course of his career have made more than $6 billion in worldwide box office collections. The man behind the Terminator films, Titanic, Avatar and more has now announced that he will be teaching his first-ever online filmmaking class starting Thursday in a tie-up with e-learning site MasterClass. Cameron will be sharing his experience along with the techniques and craftsmanship in visual art that have shaped his filmmaking.

Cameron will be referring to his films including Aliens, The Terminator, Titanic and Avatar to do breakdowns and illustrate storytelling as well character-development techniques, while also showcasing the technology he has implemented as a filmmaker. He will be offering "practical advice that applies to all levels of film production" irrespective of the size of the budget, MasterClass has stated. "I’ve been directing films for almost four decades, and if there’s one thing I’ve realized, it’s that learning is a constant process," Cameron said in a statement. He added, "Every filmmaker stands on the shoulders of the filmmakers who came before them, and I hope that my MasterClass will allow members to filter and develop my techniques through their own subjective lens and experiences."

Rising to global success with The Terminator in 1984, James Cameron followed it up with a number of sci-fi action films that included Aliens and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. He then wrote and directed Titanic, which shattered box office records around the world at the time, while also taking home 11 Oscar Awards. Cameron then upped his game in 2009 with his Avatar, which was an amalgamation of live-action and digitally-captured performances in a 3D-generated world and is currently the highest-grossing film of all-time. Cameron, who has four Avatar sequels planned next, also executive produced the National Geographic docuseries, Secrets of the Whales, which is currently streaming on Disney Plus.
