Popular Malayalam and Tamil film actress Miya George’s father, George Joseph, passed away on Tuesday. He was 75. According to reports, George Joseph’s last rites will be taking place at St. Michael's Church at Pravithanam on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife Mini, daughters Gini and Miya and sons-in-law Lino George and Ashwin Philip. Miya is known to be close with her father and has on several occasions expressed her admiration and love for him on social media. 

Tamil cinema fans will know Miya George after she made her debut in the 2014 film, Amara Kaaviyam, which had her paired opposite actor Arya’s brother Sathya. She then impressed fans with her performance in the Vishnu Vishal-starrer science-fiction comedy Indru Netru Naalai, following which she made appearances in Vetrivel, Rum, ‘Attakathi’ Dinesh’s Oru Naal Koothu, Vijay Antony’s Yaman and will next be seen in the ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram-starrer Cobra, in which she plays a pivotal role. Apart from her Tamil cinema roles, Miya is a popular name in the Malayalam film and television industry. She first made heads turn in the Kunchacko Boban-starrer Vishudhan after which she played the female lead in films like Salaam Kashmir, Hi I'm Tony, Ente Mezhuthiri Athazhangal, Anarkali, Sherlock Toms, Al Mallu, Brother's Day, Driving License to name a notable few. 

Miya George tied the knot with businessman Ashwin Philip on September 12, 2020, in an intimate ceremony held at Pala, Kerala. Despite being an arranged marriage, the families of the two knew each other. Miya and Ashwin welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in July this year, with the couple revealing the toddler’s name as Luca Joseph Philip.
