Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai last week and the news instantly spread across social media. The fans across the globe prayed for the legend's speedy recovery. Initial reports claimed that he had tested positive for Covid 19, but later it was clarified that the test results turned negative and he was admitted to the hospital only for the symptoms of fever. That being said, an official clarity on Mani Ratnam's health condition has been given and it is a good news indeed. Mani Ratnam has recovered from fever and has resumed work on his upcoming film, Ponniyin Selvan.

Mani Ratnam's wife, Suhasini took to her official Instagram page to share this news with the fans and well wishers and the update has come as a delightful news for all. Sharing a picture of Mani Ratnam, Suhasini wrote, "Back at work after Covid like fever. No Covid Yay yay". Suhasini also shared a picture of the medical report which confirms that Mani Ratnam's vitals are stable and is in good health condition. Mani Ratnam is currently working on his highly anticipated next, Ponniyin Selvan which is currently in the post production stages.

The film is slated for a grand theatrical release on September 30 and it will be released in 5 languages - Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Produced by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies, the film has music composed by AR Rahman and cinematography handled by Ravi Varman. Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan play the main leads in this historical epic that has Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Jayaram, Lal, Prakash Raj, R Parthiban, Vikram Prabhu, Aadukalam Kishore, Rahman, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Arjun Chidambaram, Riyaz Khan, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, and others in supporting roles.

Ponniyin Selvan has been made as a two-part film and details regarding the release plans of the second installment are yet to be known.
