The first single song from Mani Ratnam's highly anticipated historical epic, Ponniyin Selvan, is now all set for release and the official announcement regarding the same has been made. The first single from Ponniyin Selvan has been officially announced to release on July 31, Sunday, and it will be out on all audio streaming platforms and YouTube at 6 PM. Madras Talkies made the official announcement about the first single release through a tweet which read, "Let's begin our musical journey into the world of Cholas! #PS1FirstSingle coming your way on 31st July at 6pm! #ManiRatnam #ARRahman #PS1 #PonniyinSelvan @LycaProductions @arrahman @tipsofficial @TipsRegional @ilangokrishnan".

The first single from Ponniyin Selvan is called 'Ponni Nadhi' and this will be a song that will focus on the character of Vanthiya Thevan, played by Karthi. Ponniyin Selvan has music composed by A.R.Rahman and all eyes are now on the legendary composer's work. This song from Ponniyin Selvan has lyrics penned by Ilango Krishnan, while details regarding the singers are yet to be known. The announcement about the first single was made through a new poster which features Karthi riding on a horse and he looks at his charismatic best. The rest of the songs will be released one by one in the coming days and a solid treat awaits fans.

Ponniyin Selvan features Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles and has cinematography handled by Ravi Varman. Produced by Lyca Productions in association with Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies, the film features an ensemble supporting cast that includes the likes of R Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Jayaram, Lal, Aadukalam Kishore, Rahman, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Riyaz Khan, Arjun Chidambaram, and others. The film is slated for a grand theatrical release on September 30 and it will have a pan Indian release in 5 languages - Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
