In a shocking incident, Hollywood actress Jodie Turner-Smith became a victim of theft at her hotel in Cannes, where she is attending the prestigious film festival. According to reports, the model and actress' lost priceless family items at the Marriott hotel on the Croisette when she had gone for her breakfast on Friday. Robbers had broken into the actress' room and stolen jewellery estimated to be thousands of Euros, including one revealed to be her mother's wedding ring.

A larger security detail was soon given to Jodie, who was moved quickly from the Marriot to the Majestic hotel, along with her one-year-old daughter, who were attending the Cannes Film Festival for the first time. Reports state Jodie might have caught the eye among the thieves after she was seen wearing gold and diamond jewellery on Thursday night for the premiere of her latest film, After Yang. She tweeted, "Didn't think i would be spending 2.5 hours in the police station on my final day in Cannes, but here we are..." A publicist for the British actress later said that she had been there to report about the jewellery theft.

This isn't the first robbery incident in Cannes after a member of the Pink Panthers gang was suspected of stealing gems worth $130 million in 2013. Similarly, a 1.6-million euro Chopard necklace was stolen the same year at the Cannes Film Festival, including gems as well going missing.
