Popular Bengali actress Pratyusha Paul filed a complaint alleging harassment on social media. She stated that she has been receiving obscene messages, including rape threats on Instagram from one particular user. Although she ignored the messages initially, Pratyusha revealed that she would block the user, who would then open a new social media account and start sending her vulgar texts once again. Based on her complaint, the Kolkata Police Cyber Cell has now launched an investigation on the harassment and rape threats after recording the actress' statement, while also assuring her of action. An e-mail as well has reportedly been sent to the social media platform for information pertaining to the case.

Speaking to a news channel, Pratyusha said, "They (cyber cell) have sent an email to Instagram, asking me to wait as these things take time. I have no choice other than to wait." The actress further stated that she had blocked the user at least thirty times.
