Brooke and Simon tied the knot in 2017 and welcomed their first child, daughter Elsie, in September 2020. The couple announced the joyous news with an adorable picture along with a caption: "And then there was you... Elsie Rose Georgia Boardley. Stole our hearts immediately and forever at 1.07 am on 22.09.2020." Earlier, Brooke experienced tragedy after her younger brother Ben Kinsella became a victim of a stabbing incident in 2008 at the age of 16. The actress has since then in an effort to raise awareness founded the Ben Kinsella Trust in his memory and was also felicitated with the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE - a British honor awarded by the King or Queen) for her work.

Outside of her charity work, Brooke also assisted the EastEnders team by contributing to the research and inputs on a knife crime storyline on the show. Speaking about a stabbing scene in the series that aired in 2018, Brooke told BBC News: "I’m aware that it will be quite upsetting, but the EastEnders team were wonderful. They were very brave in tackling this issue. They didn’t just make it a short storyline – they’re dedicating quite a bit of time to it." She added, "They’re not just going to be focusing on the attack, but also the repercussions. It’s also about how it affects family, friends and the community. I think it’s going to reach a lot of people’s hearts and make them look at knife crime in a way that they hadn’t."
