Santhanam's DD Returns is gearing up for a huge theatrical release on July 28 and promotions have now taken flight with the film's much-awaited trailer now out. The trailer starts off introducing Santhanam as Madhi, who along with the film's female lead Surbhi, Redin Kingsley, Lollu Sabha Maran, and others enter a dilapidated bungalow and are posed with the challenge of leaving the building after they find their way out but only upon facing death-defying odds and encountering innumerable supernatural entities in their path. The DD Returns trailer has several moments that evoke a big laugh and chuckles throughout, with Santhanam leading the way with his quick one-liners.
DD Returns is Santhanam's first big release of 2023 and is billed to be a one-of-a-kind horror comedy. Having been seen in Gulu Gulu and Agent Kannayiram last year, the comedian-turned-hero's upcoming film has been creating quite a lot of buzz since the project was announced back in April with the film's title being revealed in a surprising manner. DD Returns is directed by debutant S. Prem Anand, who has been collaborating with Santhanam since his days on the hit Vijay Television comedy show, Lollu Sabha, by assisting filmmaker Rambhala of Dhilluku Dhuddu (2016) and Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 (2019) fame.
Produced by C. Ramesh Kumar under the RK Entertainment banner, DD Returns will see Santhanam and Surbhi sharing screen space alongside an additional cast featuring the likes of Maran, Pradeep Rawat, Masoom Shankar, Fesi Vijayan, Motta Rajendran, Munishkanth, Dheena, Bipin, Thanga Durai, Deepa, Saidai Sethu, Manasi, among others, with a highly-talented technical team starting with independent composer ofRo, cinematographer Dipak Kumar Padhy and editor N. B. Srikanth, while art direction has been done by A.R Mohan.
