Chup: Revenge of the Artist is an upcoming film that has been written and directed by R. Balki and co-produced by Pranab Kapadia, Anirudh Sharma from Hope Productions, and Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. Meanwhile, Balki has also co-written the screenplay and dialogues of the film while Raja Sen and Rishi Virmani are the scriptwriters. The film stars Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Deol, Pooja Bhatt and Shreya Dhanwanthary in pivotal roles. The psychological thriller is a tribute to Hindi cinema icon Guru Dutt, who is remembered for his cinematic artistry during the 1950s and the '60s.

In remembrance of Guru Dutt on his birth anniversary (July 9), the makers of the film recently dropped the official teaser of the film. Dulquer took to his Twitter handle and shared the film's official teaser along with a caption that read, "You are an aspiration and inspiration to us all, here’s to you #GuruDutt ji!💕 #ChupRevengeOfTheArtist ", followed by the tags of all those associated with the project.

The teaser features Dulquer cutting newspapers into flowers and making a bouquet. He offers the bouquet to Shreya Dhanwanthary who says, "On Guru Dutt's birthday Kaagaz Ke Phool?". This was an ode to Guru Dutt's 1959 film Kaagaz Ke Phool. Dulquer is also heard singing 'Happy Birthday' to the tune of the song Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam, which was an iconic track sung by Geeta Dutt in the 1959 film.

Talking about his film earlier, R. Balki said, "Chup is an ode to the sensitive artiste, and Guru Dutt is right on top of that list. I have had the story for a long time and I am glad we finally wrote it and are almost done filming it". Guru Dutt was not only a director, but he was also a producer, actor, choreographer, and writer as well. He has directed 8 films, which include Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Chaudhvin Ka Chand and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam.
