Director Patty Jenkins hit it out of the ball park with her 2017 worldwide blockbuster, Wonder Woman. The DC Comics superhero film, part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), went on to collect $872 million in global box office collections with critics giving a double thumbs up to director Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot, who essayed the titular role as Wonder Woman aka. the Amazonian Princess Diana and Chris Pine as the American Air Force pilot, Steve Trevor.

Three years later, the sequel titled, Wonder Woman 1984, set in the 1980s has Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot and Chris Pine reunited with the film recently announced for a release date change from June 5 to August 14 this year following the coronavirus disease that has changed life as we know it. With Wonder Woman 2 currently in the final leg of post-production, Patty Jenkins in a recent interview opened up on the reason to not take up the director's gig for Marvel Studios' 2013 film, Thor: The Dark World, starring Chris Hemsworth as the Norse god, Natalie Portman as his girlfriend Jane Foster and Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin.

Speaking about rejecting the offer to direct Thor 2, which later went to Alan Taylor, Patty Jenkins said, "I did not believe that I could make a good movie out of the script that they were planning on doing. I think it would have been a huge deal - it would have looked like it was my fault. It would’ve looked like, 'Oh my God, this woman directed it and she missed all these things.' That was the one time in my career where I really felt like, do this with [another director] and it’s not going to be a big deal. And maybe they’ll understand it and love it more than I do." Patty added, "You can’t do movies you don’t believe in. The only reason to do it would be to prove to people that I could. But it wouldn’t have proved anything if I didn’t succeed. I don’t think that I would have gotten another chance. And so, I’m super grateful."
