SuVi, who also has Sri Lankan roots, was previously a member of the popular music band S5, which was launched by SS Music. She also holds the distinction of being the first South Asian/Indian artist to tie up with the Los Angeles and UK-based audio label called Blossom Records. As for her singing career in Tamil cinema, SuVi shot to limelight after the chart-buster hit ‘Kodana Kodi’ composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja for the 2008 comedy-thriller Saroja, directed by Venkat Prabhu. She has also lent her vocals for the ‘Yedho Mayakkam’ song in ‘Thala’ Ajith’s Billa 2, including singing the rap portions in ‘Asku Lasku’ for ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Nanban, while also collaborating with Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman for the 'Wanna Mash Up?' song in Highway featuring lyrics by Lady Kash and Krissy.
