'Superstar' Rajinikanth's cop film, Darbar, directed by A. R. Murugadoss under the Lyca Productions banner and featuring chart-buster music by Anirudh Ravichander kicked off 2020 in grand style. The mass action entertainer also had actress Nayanthara pairing opposite the iconic superstar, with Nivetha Thomas playing his daughter. Darbar, which had big names in its cast and crew, also went on to be talked about after shooting spot stills and the film's trailer included actress Shamata Anchan, who played an important role and also alongside Rajinikanth.

Shamata Anchan appeared as a lady cop in Darbar, whose character assists Rajinikanth and had a screen time of nearly forty minutes in the film. Having said that, Shamata entered wedlock with her beau Gaurav Verma on February 8 in a private ceremony, which saw family members and close friends taking part in the joyous occasion. The popular actress, who also starred in acclaimed Bollywood director Ashutosh Gowariker's telenova titled Everest, opened up about her wedding on social media on the eve of Valentine's Day. The wedding was planned to be a private ceremony as the couple wanted it to be kept low profile. Pictures from the Shamata-Gaurav wedding were shared on social media by the actress, who looks stunning in her traditional red saree, while her partner appears dashing in an embroidered sherwani.

According to reports, Shamata Anchan and Gaurav Verma have been in a relationship for nearly a year. The couple had decided to tie the knot after being together for a year, with the wedding ceremony including both North and South Indian customs. It has been revealed that the couple are planning to spend their honeymoon in Maldives and will be flying off soon. Taking to her Instagram page, Shamata posted pictures of the wedding with captions like, "A promise of forever", "From Darbar to Gharbaar" and "My forever Valentine. Here is to our first and many more". Below are the pictures from the Shamata Anchan and Gaurav Verma wedding:
