May 01 - TN COVID Update: 203 New Cases | 1 New Deaths | Total - 2526 Cases & 28 Deaths
It is that time of the day when the official number of the COVID-19 cases are released and May 01st has now become the single day with the highest number of newly tested COVID-19 Corona Virus Positive cases in Tamil Nadu, so far. Today has followed in the trend of the last couple of days and had a shockingly high number of cases, especially in Chennai. The official numbers of #COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus cases in Tamil Nadu are out and we have it for you. Yesterday was the worst ever so far for our state and today has gone way past that. Tamil Nadu has had 203 new cases of COVID positive being reported in the past 24 hours. Of this, 176 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total past 1000, to 1082.
A 98-year-old man has died due to COVID-19 related symptoms, taking the total Corona Virus death toll in Tamil Nadu, to 28. As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 5 main COVID-19 clusters, with over 233 areas being barricaded and placed under containment. Some of the main COVID-19 clusters in Chennai include the Tablighi Jamaat Delhi Nizamuddin Markaz, Koyambedu Market, People returned from foreign, Media Personnel and the Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar Prayer Meet. The Tamil Nadu Government's Minister for Health - Vijayabhaskar has mentioned that the State is well within the protection ring and that we are having about 2 times the number testing happening, when compared to other states in our country. The number of recoveries has come been moderate with just 54 new recoveries and discharges and the total number of recovered people has gone up to 1312.
