Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan is one of the biggest films that is being made in Indian cinema right now and the film has got phenomenal expectations among the fans and film buffs. Ponniyin Selvan features a stellar star cast that includes Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ashwin Kakumanu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Nizhalgal Ravi, Mohan Raman, Riyaz Khan, Arjun Chidambaram, and others. Produced by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies, the film has music composed by A.R.Rahman, while Ravi Varman is cranking the camera.

Sreekar Prasad is the editor, while Thotta Tharani is heading the art direction department. Earlier in the week, it was confirmed that Vairamuthu is not a part of Ponniyin Selvan and instead, a writer named Ilango Krishnan will be making his debut as a lyric writer in Tamil cinema with Ponniyin Selvan. Ilango Krishnan has penned 8 songs, while Kabilan and Kabilan Vairamuthu have written 2 and 1 song respectively. Venba Geethayan has written a song. The shooting of the film is progressing at a brisk pace and Mani Ratnam is planning to finish as much as possible before the next wave of Covid 19.

The team is currently shooting war sequences featuring the lead actors and the shoot is happening following the Covid-19 protocols. Meanwhile, a new video from the sets of Ponniyin Selvan has been doing wide rounds on social media and the video has excited the fans. In the new video, we see Chiyaan Vikram rehearsing for the war sequence with a sword, practising his moves. This short video has already grabbed the attention of the netizens and it looks like the fans are in for some exciting treat.

Chiyaan Vikram's next release in Tamil will be Cobra, which is currently in the post-production stages. Directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, the film has music composed by A.R.Rahman. Vikram also has Chiyaan 60 with Karthik Subbaraj and the film has got high expectations.
