Earlier this morning (June 16), popular Tamil actress Jothi Meena's father, Sai Prasad passed away. According to the information from official sources, Sai Prasad died due to kidney problems. Sai Prasad breathed his last at his residence in Mahalingapuram, Chennai. Several notable personalities from the film industry have extended their heartfelt condolences to actress Jothi Meena and her family. Jothi Meena's debut film in Tamil was Thirumoorthy which starred Captain Vijayakanth and Ravali as the main leads. The film was directed by Pavithran and had music composed by Deva. The film released in 1995 and was a success at the box office. Jothi Meena is best known among the Tamil audience for her supporting role (as Meena) in Karthik's Ullathai Allitha, directed by Sundar C. The movie which featured Rambha, Goundamani, and Manivannan in other pivotal roles, was a big success at the box office and it struck a chord with the audience. The success of Ullathai Allitha gave Jothi Meena many other exciting opportunities.

Jothi Meena's other notable films in Tamil include Maaman Magal, Parambarai, Gopala Gopala, Maanbumigu Maanavan, Nalla Manasukkaran, etc. Jothi Meena has also featured as an item dancer in a few movies.

Jothi Meena's mother and Sai Prasad's wife was Jyothi Lakshmi, who was also an actor. Jyothi Lakshmi has acted in several interesting films including Periya Idathu Penn, Pattanathil Bhootham, Galatta Kalyanam, Adimaippenn, Thedi Vandha Mappillai, Neerum Neruppum, Rickshawkaran, Nayakan, Muthu, Vaimaye Vellum, Sethu, Enamma Kannu, M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi, Sandai, Jaganmohini, Trisha Illana Nayanthara. Her last movie was Kavalai Vendam which released in 2016, starring Jiiva and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles.

Jyothi Lakshmi had also acted in Radikaa Sarathkumar's superhit TV serial, Annamalai in which she played the character of Gandhimathi. Jyothi Lakshmi had died in 2016 due to blood cancer.
